Horopito is in the middle of the North Island, to get here either drive,Fly from Auckland or Wellington to Taupo airport and we will arrange your pick up, orTrain from Auckland or Wellington to Ohakune and we will pick you up.
Lahar Farm is on the South West side of Mt. Ruapehu.Travel south on either State Highway 4 or 47 to National Park, then South for 20 minutes on SH 4 to Horopito, you turn into Matapuna Road at the large reflective sign saying ‘Horopito Vintage Vehicles and Museum” (a famous car wreckers!). Go over the railway, past “Smash Palace” and follow the gravel road for 2 km’s to our gate way at number 192. At this point turn right at the Lahar sign and come into our homestead and we will show you to your accommodation and finalise your guiding requirements.
Tourist attractions. Some local places to visit include the neighbouring Tongariro National Park for walks or hiking, the department of Conservation information centre at Whakapapa, Wanganui National Park for kayaking trips, the Waiouru Army museum, two commercial ski fields of Turoa and Whakapapa, lake Taupo for trout fishing and the famous Tongariro river. Shopping in the local towns of Ohakune, Raetihi, National Park and Waiouru.
