Lahar Lake is a private pond in the middle of Lahar farm and was formed by us in 2000. It is spring fed and the lake outlet is the origin of the Taonui Stream, renowned for trophy Brown trout.
Lahar Lake is no longer stocked with young trout and public access has been terminated. It has reverted back to it's natural 'wild' state and there may or may not be any trout in there!
Lahar Lake however would be a great place to practice your fly casting expertise before you take on the regions remote streams and rivers. A great place for children to start with a spinning rod to get them used to the action If you have your own fishing equipment and fishing licence you may walk out and try your luck at some trout fishing.
There is a dingy available near the shore & 2 canoes. To cover our O.S.H obligations, come and see us if you want to use them & to obtain the life jackets/paddles.
