Lahar Farm and Lodge

There’s plenty to experience while you stay on Lahar Farm in our rustic designer bunkhouse style ‘BARN’ accommodation for up to 17 people. Situated 800 metres high on the foothills of Mt.Ruapehu, only 2 km from State Highway 4 in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand.

Come and ski or board the Mt. Ruapehu massif, an active volcano, just 30 minutes away. Go guided hunting for Sika or Red & Fallow deer in Lahar's Black Forest. Take your camera and enjoy walking around Lahar Farm. Bring the trout rod and fish on Lahar Lake or the districts remote streams plus the Tongariro River or Lake Taupo. Get your group together and hike or bike over Lahar Farm and the 'Old Coach Road' cycle trail starting at Horopito. Hike the world famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing or conquer the summit of Mt. Ruapehu via the summer chairlift ride. Canoe or jet boat the Wanganui River.

Where ever your adventure takes you, you’ll enjoy returning to Lahar Farm to simply stay indoors and take in the rural outlook to recharge yourselves.

Lahar 'BARN' is placed in a farm paddock with a clear view towards Mt.Ruapehu, overlooking the grazing sheep and Tongariro National Park. There’s plenty of room to park in the paddock allowing a group get together for a family or friend reunion to escape to the country and experience all the action. The ‘BARN’ has many natural features, the upstairs level is supported with full macrocarpa log beams and downstairs is decorated with macrocarpa wall panelling, the kitchen area looks up to the wooden second story floor. The bunk beds have Macrocarpa slab sides, the stair railing is made from manuka and the exit outside stair has a full macrocarpa tree trunk for support. The ‘BARN’ is centrally heated from the Gourmet fire which supplies unlimited hot water and under floor heating. You can also cook on and in the Gourmet for an old fashioned challenge.

There are 10 beds supplied, two are double beds - Maximum of 12 guests

To secure your booking a prior deposit of $124.00 is required.

By supplying your Visa/Master card details. (Billing descriptor is "totally offroad")

Equipped Kitchen :- For self catering, pots & pans, plates & cutlery, electric oven & gas hobs, the Gourmet wood stove & oven, dishwasher, fridge & freezer, microwave and BBQ.

Linen :- Tea towels & pillows with pillow slips, a duvet for each bed. (No Sheets or towels supplied)

House :- TV, radio/CD player, starter toilet paper (one roll in each toilet), firewood, bathrooms include 2 showers, 3 toilets, 5 hand basins, laundry tub.

Sorry NO phone or internet, but high speed wireless broadband is available at the 'Peppa Tree', Clyde St in Ohakune.

Bring
Your own toilet paper, sleeping bag or sheets and towels, personal items like shampoo & soap. All your own food and beverage requirements

Ohakune is a 10 minute drive to cafes, restaurants & the New World supermarket.

Cancellation policy A full refund is only available with more than 3 weeks notice prior to your booking arrival date. Otherwise an administration fee of $124.00 will be charged and any balance returned.
