The Black Forest Estate is owned and operated by kiwis, Brent and Noeline Bishop with advice from their three sons. They are the second generation owners of Lahar Farm and have been managing the Black Forest hunting estate from the beginning. Brent has spent a life time hunting the length and breath of New Zealand and overseas. Passionate about managing the land and the animals to reach their best potential, he is dedicated to providing hunters with a first class hunting opportunity. Single person or party bookings ensure you have our undivided attention and exclusive use of our hunting areas during your time with us. Our team of guides are well prepared and will do their very best to fulfil the hunter’s expectations on their hunt. Lahar Farm is located in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand. The estate has access to 3,000 acres of private hunting and is surrounded by the 200,000 acre natural sub alpine area preserved as the Tongariro World Heritage National Park. Location map – click

The Black Forest terrain follows the gently sloping contour of Mt Ruapehu, a volcano, which is also the highest mountain in the North Island. Although all hunting is on foot our flat to rolling forested terrain interspersed with many small wild grass clearings means an exciting stalk is available to all, regardless off experience, fitness or age.

Gerald Fluerty: Gerald is our Sika expert having been a hunter and trapper all his life. He is also an official SCI qualified scorer and is just waiting to record the big one he will find for you.
Allan Davidson: Allan has also hunted extensively and farmed red deer for much of his life and so is intimately acquainted with their habits and terrain. Allan is our red deer expert and will find you the animal of your expectations
